DignityWorks is lead by Jo Brown, a leading practitioner with almost 20 years experience in the prevention, intervention and resolution of workplace bullying.
Jo has been involved in hundreds of cases, including some of the key UK cases including Majrowski vs Guys & St Thomas NHS Trust, and Green vs Deutsche Bank. She has provided training at all levels of organisations in the private, public and third sectors, as well as writing and speaking on the topic extensively. Media work include interviews on BBC Newsnight, Sky News and BBC Breakfast and many more in TV, radio and print. She’s also written articles that have been published in a variety of magazines.
Jo is currently undertaking a doctorate at the University of Huddersfield in workplace bullying and writing a book on solving the workplace bullying crisis. As an experienced Non-Executive Director and Board Committee Chair, Jo is a trustee for the Tim Field Foundation, a charity created to manage the workplace bullying website resource bullyonline.org, created by Tim Field.
Memorable moments include speaking at the House of Lords in support of the Dignity at Work Bill (2002), bring an ambassador for the European Union Year of Equal Opportunities and took part in the European truck tour talking and running workshops. She took part in a 4-week BBC TV series on happiness (2005) and was a proud moment being at the House of Lords with Bill Majrowski in 2006 for his successful challenge to the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
Frustrated with the lack of progress and help available, she asked the question ‘what else can be done?’. This led her to take a few years ‘off’ from working in the field of bullying to reflect and learn from with other experts in workplace bullying and other fields to develop a better solution that actually reduces prevalence.
Her travels and training include the Workplace Bullying Institute University run by Drs Gary and Ruth Namie, Strategic Intervention Coaching with renowned relationship therapist Cloe Madanes and Tony Robbins, leadership with Tony Robbins, Strategic Intervention Bootcamp intensive with Mark and Magali Peysha, Coaching Abrasive Leaders with the Boss Whispering Institute, trained to be a Licenced Pratitioner in The Science of Happiness at Work with the i-Opener Institute for People and Performance and trained as a mediator.
It is with this knowledge she brings a holistic approach to a worldwide problem. From her original career before to being bullied herself which led her to this journey, Jo is a qualified accountant and PRINCE2 Practitioner, a Fellow member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
In DignityWorks she brings together a great team of passionate individuals to help individuals and organisations, including a Chief Executive with 20 years experience, a psychotherapist specialising in PTSD, FCIPD/senior lecturer consultant, a cultural awareness specialist, consultants specialising in emotional and organisational resilience as well as leading leading coaches.
